A cover-up uses a new, custom design to completely conceal an existing tattoo. Darker and denser old tattoos limit the options more than faded ones — but an experienced artist can work with almost anything. The most common cover-ups we do:

How Much Does a Cover-Up Cost?

There’s no honest flat price for a cover-up — every existing tattoo is different. Size, darkness, and placement all determine the design needed to hide it well. That’s exactly why consultations are free: your artist looks at your tattoo in person and gives you an exact quote before anything is scheduled. No surprises, ever.

Can any tattoo be covered?
Most can. Very dark, dense, or fresh tattoos are harder — sometimes a few laser sessions to lighten the old ink first gives you far better design options. Your artist will be honest about this at your consultation.

Will the cover-up need to be bigger than my old tattoo?
Usually yes — typically 2–3 times the size, with darker tones and strategic detail placement. That’s how the old tattoo disappears instead of showing through.

Does a cover-up hurt more?
No — it feels like any other tattoo. Tattooing over older healed skin is no different from fresh skin.

Can you cover up scars?
Often, yes. Scars must be fully healed (typically 12+ months). Your artist will assess it in person at your free consultation and give you an honest answer.
