Tattoo pricing depends on size, placement, complexity, and the artist's experience level. At Oddity Tattoo our shop minimum starts at *$100, and most custom work is priced by the hour or as a flat rate agreed on during your consultation. Smaller pieces typically run $100–$300, while larger or more detailed work is quoted individually. We'd rather give you an accurate quote than a number that surprises you — fill out our inquiry form and we'll get you a real estimate within 24 hours. AMI is closed Sunday and Monday, so inquiries received around those days are answered when the studio reopens.
*AMI location minimum is $150
Walk-ins are welcome during posted studio hours when an artist is available. Calling ahead is recommended. Appointments are strongly recommended for custom work, larger pieces, or if you have a specific artist in mind. Booking ahead guarantees your time slot and gives your artist time to prepare. Every artist at Oddity has their own signature style — choosing the right one makes a huge difference in the final result. Start by browsing portfolios on our artist page. Yes — walk-ins are welcome at all four Oddity Tattoo locations in Sarasota and Anna Maria Island. Availability varies by day and artist, so calling ahead is always a good idea. For the best walk-in experience, come early in the day with a clear idea of what you want. Flash designs and smaller custom pieces are easiest to accommodate same-day. For larger or more detailed work, an appointment will always give you the best outcome.
A little preparation goes a long way toward a better tattoo experience:
Eat a full meal before your appointment — low blood sugar makes the process harder on your body
Stay hydrated — well-hydrated skin takes ink better and heals faster
Wear comfortable clothing that gives easy access to the area being tattooed
Avoid alcohol for at least 24 hours beforehand — it thins the blood and affects healing
Moisturize the area for a few days leading up to your appointment
Get a good night's sleep — you'll be more comfortable and relaxed
Bring reference images if you have them — even rough inspiration helps
Bring a photo ID!
It depends entirely on the size, detail, and placement. Here's a rough guide:
Small / simple piece (palm-sized or less) — 1 to 2 hours
Medium piece (palm size and bigger, thigh, ribs) — 3 to 5 hours
Large / complex piece (full sleeve, back piece) — multiple sessions of 4–8 hours each
Your artist will give you a realistic time estimate during your consultation. Larger projects are typically split into sessions to allow proper healing between sittings.

Yes — cover-ups are one of our specialties. Several of our artists have extensive experience transforming old, faded, or unwanted tattoos into something you'll love. Cover-up work requires more planning than a fresh tattoo, so we always recommend starting with a consultation. Your artist will assess the existing tattoo, discuss realistic options, and design something that works with — not just over — what's already there. Submit a cover-up inquiry here and include a photo of your existing tattoo for the fastest response.
Your artist will walk you through aftercare instructions after your session — full details are also below on this page. The short version: keep it clean, keep it moisturized, stay out of the sun and water for two weeks, and don't pick at it. Oddity guarantees all tattoo work with free touch-ups within 8 months of completion (some exceptions apply for hands, feet, lips, and white tattoos). If anything looks off during healing, reach out to your artist directly or call your nearest location.
1. Gently remove bandage after 1-3 hours.
2. Gently wash with warm water and a fragrance free antibacterial soap (i.e. Dial Gold). After removing bandage and cleaning the tattoo, gently pat dry and apply a light layer of A&D ointment or *Aquaphor, Pride, Hustle Butter, Ohana Tattoo Butter. Repeat 3 times daily for 3 days then switch to a high quality, fragrance free hand lotion (i.e. Lubriderm) for the next two weeks or until healing is complete. When using the lotion, apply a very light layer every 3 hours.*if using Aquaphor, Pride, Hustle Butter or Ohana Tattoo Butter, use for the entire healing process.
3. Avoid chlorine pools, salt water, extended periods of time in water, direct sunlight, and any kind of rough treatment to your new tattoo for a minimum of two weeks.
4. When showering, do not allow water to hit your new tattoo directly. Be sure to thoroughly rinse off shampoo and body wash.
5. After your tattoo is completely healed, a sunblock of SPF50 or higher is required when exposed to ultraviolet light (sun, tanning beds, etc.)
6. DO NOT pick, scratch, or pull on any peeling skin. In the chance your tattoo develops scabbing, allow it to heal naturally and do not try to pick or pull it off.
7.Always wash your hands before touching your fresh tattoo.
Remember, tattoos have to go through a complete and very important healing process. Baby your new tattoo to ensure maximum results.

SaniDerm is a breathable, flexible barrier film designed to be worn for multiple days. SaniDerm will lock in your body’s natural fluids and enzymes keeping your new tattoo hydrated and speeding up the healing process.
- Leave SaniDerm on for 4 to 6 days. When you are ready to remove the barrier film, grab a corner and peel in the direction of hair growth. Following removal, wash your tattoo with fragrance free, antibacterial soap. Gently pat dry and apply unscented, high quality hand lotion (i.e. Lubriderm). Repeat 3 times daily until tattoo is completely healed.
- If SaniDerm is removed prematurely, follow our traditional aftercare instructions.
- SaniDerm does NOT protect from the sun. Avoid direct sunlight, and any kind of rough treatment to your new tattoo for a minimum of two weeks. After your tattoo is completely healed, a sunblock of SPF50 or higher is required when exposed to ultraviolet light (sun, tanning beds, etc.)
- After SaniDerm is removed DO NOT pick, scratch, or pull on any peeling skin.
Remember, tattoos have to go through a complete and very important healing process. Baby your new tattoo to ensure maximum results.

Preparing for your tattoo :

You will need to purchase:
1.ANTIBACTARIAL SOAP (Dial Gold liquid is a good brand.) .
2.LOTION (Lubriderm, Curell, Aquaphor. Must not contain fragrance, dyes, SPF or extra healing properties. Just plain lotion)
Consultations are free. If you are ready to set an appointment after the consultation, we will take a retainer of *$100 to 200 (depending on the project and artist) to secure the appointment. The retainer is not extra, it will be applied to the total price of your tattoo once completed. The retainer is nonrefundable but is transferable if you give us at least 48hrs notice of needing to reschedule. Retainers expire 8 months from the original appointment date and are forfeited in cases of no call/no show, very late arrival, rescheduling with less than 48hrs notice or rescheduling the same appointment more than twice.
You have to be at least 18 years old with a valid photo ID in the State of Florida.
A minor, who is at least 16 years old, can get tattooed with a notarized minor consent form. Both parent/legal guardian and ward must bring valid government issued photo IDs to the appointment along with notarized Minor Consent form. Your parent or guardian must accompany you for the procedure. Minors are discouraged from getting any very visible tattoos (hands, forearm, neck etc.) Tattoos/placement on minors is done at the discretion of each artist. Please let us know if you are a minor when scheduling an appointment.

Retainers are deducted from the total cost of your tattoo once completed. Retainers are non refundable, but are transferable if you give us at least 48 hours notice in advance of needing to reschedule. They expire 8 months from the original appointment date. Retainers are forfeited in cases of no call/no show, very late arrival, or rescheduling with less than 48 hours notice.
Your deposit secures your appointment time. Our artists’ livelihood depend upon scheduled appointments coming in. Please let us know as soon as possible if you cannot make your scheduled appointment time.
